Ave Maria Nursery/Primary Schools - Nigeria
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Ave Maria School Project at Rumuodumanya located in Port-Harcourt Rivers State Nigeria started in 2017. The purpose is to transform the lives of the underserved and underresourced through education. Holding to Abosi (1996), assertions, the founders believe that education has three main roles: (1) It is developmental because it develops the unique qualities of a child; (2) It differentiates between learners because it treats every child as an individual, appreciating individual differences; (3) It is integrative because it accommodates people of varying backgrounds including culture, beliefs, and values; thereby allowing for a cooperative approach in problem solving.
Children & Charity International has affiliated with the Ave Maria School Project to sponsor and supervise this initiative. It is intended to provide equal educational opportunities, and “hope,” to benefit all children especially those of the peasant farmers of Rumuodumaya.
The school started with only 25 students. Recent expansion into three schools allows us to accommodate 100 pre-nursery, nursery, and primary students.
