Educational Intervention Program


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION


(1) Tutoring and Enrichment

(a) In-School and Afterschool Help: Students from Kindergarten to 8th grade receive homework help and tutoring in mathematics, reading, and language arts: and in-school and afterschool, project-based, technology enrichment, Monday to Friday, 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm throughout the school year.


(b) Social Activities: Students from Kindergarten to 8th grade get opportunities to engage in enrichment activities that build social skills and peer interaction. These include dance, fencing, spelling bee, photography, singing, basketball, drama, and others, Tuesday to Thursday 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

 

(2) Meeting Core Standards

(a) Provide K to 8th grade students with basic literacy, numeracy and language skills to meet core standards proficiency.
(b) Assist 9th thru 12th graders to meet literacy and numeracy proficiency levels.
(c) Train older out-of-school youth for entry into a GED program.
(d) Prepare youth to meet the minimal entry requirement into the employment training programs.
(e) Provide older youth with work-readiness skills and techniques for obtaining and maintaining long-term employment;
