Special Project - Positive Impact
In 2007, Children & Charity International started an exciting venture with Nimbus Productions, Inc. Nimbus will be producing documentaries that show the positive side of life, regardless of location. These made for TV documentaries travel the world, presenting a fresh, innovative and emotionally compelling counterpoint to the current plethora of negative, sensational and prurient broadcasting.
Much of what is shown on television today is negative and/or prurient, delivering messages that the world (or specific geography) is filled only with terror, violence, starvation and horror. The concept seems to be that only negative images sell or make news.
Against this patina of negativity there is room for a more truthful and uplifting message. This message is that throughout the world people live lives that have meaning, joy and love. While many live in difficult environments and conditions, they still find moments that justify existence, that point to the deeper and more profound reasons for life.
However, if the only message that the world sees or hears is that only misery exists, an un-real sense of the world and people develops. Hope and understanding diminishes, replaced by uncaring and inward thinking. Spiritual growth, generosity and compassion whither, leaving a vacuum into much of what we consider evil or dark (i.e. war, genocide, famine, bigotry, hate and loss of faith).
It is more than possible to create productions that show the better, more typical and normal side of humanity which are entertaining, compelling and profitable. There is a market for these shows. It is possible to make money doing the right thing and provide a counter point to the sensationalism of the bulk of current news and television programming. Nimbus Productions has been created to meet and fill this need.
