Shipment of 2 barrels of clothing and supplies left today for the Refugee Camp, in Accra, Ghana where Children & Charity International sponsors the education and upkeep of 319 students and families.

Summer Activities!

The closing ceremony of the summer science programs in Washington, D.C. included class presentations, educational pack distribution, a mariachi band, and a family picnic. We had a safe and pleasant event. Photos

Philanthropy Workshop

Mrs. Marilyn James, Executive Director of Children & Charity International was invited by the Institute for the Development of African –American Youth Inc., to be a presenter on Youth-led Fundraising and Philanthropy at the Sixth National Conference on Black Philanthropy at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.  Mrs. James was supported by youth from the Walker and Alemu families. Workshop participants rated the session as informative, intriguing, and inspirational and eagerly look forward to next year’s Workshop.

Major General David Hicks, Chief of Chaplains of the United States Army spoke to parents and students at the Family Café operated by Children & Charity International. He encouraged students to embrace the learning opportunities given through the programs, take guidance from good mentors, and never give up.  He presented Mrs. Marilyn James, Coordinator of the Café with a Challenge Coin for Excellence, Courageous Spirit, and Compassionate Service.
